Travis and I drove up to Boone, NC, for the purpose of going to the East Carolina University at Appalachian State University football game, and we had a fabulous time.

Someone who isn’t a fan of one of these schools might look at them and think, oh, rivals, but I asked the App fans we talked to, and they all pretty much to a one said, “Eh, I mean, I guess, kind of, like in an in-state sort of you’re here way?” So ECU, I don’t know about you, but App doesn’t think you’re a rival. (Probably didn’t stop them from enjoying beating the hell out of you.)

The stadium is gorgeous – mountains behind one end zone, small enough to feel like you’re right in the middle of it but big enough to be loud, and all the fans we met were fantastically friendly and welcoming. And my favorite part? They let me bring the big camera in. Division 1 football teams don’t let you bring the big cameras in unless you’re working. But App State let me, and here’s the results.
