This year, I decided to revive an old project that I’d conceived back in 2009, when I was first starting to get serious about the pursuit side of photography, rather than the taking photos side. I compiled a list of bands in which siblings, or siblings and relatives, played together, and decided to shoot casual portraits to go with casual interviews of these pairs or trios. First back on the horse for me were the delightful, gracious Scott and Grant Hutchison, frontman and drummer of Scottish indie darlings Frightened Rabbit. The three shots above are from our shoot on the back patio of the Cradle, and the interview will be running on Speakers In Code in the next few days.

For a bit of a tease, their elder brother’s grandchildren are the favorites, and they began playing together as adults because Grant was the best drummer Scott knew. For the rest, you’ll just have to wait.
