The crowd was packed so tight last night for Bowerbirds’ CD release show that I gave up trying to squish through and get shots; I went back and sat with my mama and we loved on Phil and Beth and Mark and Leah and Yan from halfway back in the Cradle. The Clearing sounds even more lovely and brilliant live than it did recorded, and openers Mandolin Orange killed a cover of ‘Long Black Veil’ that destroys me every time I hear it. And my mama had a good time, which is the thumbs up on every show, right?
