Passable shooting evening at a new-to-me venue; excellent evening of rock and/or roll courtesy Hammer No More The Fingers, who I haven’t seen in ages and always love live, and the Old Ceremony, who are secretly one of those local bands I’ve seen a million times without realizing how many times I’ve seen them, about whom I sometimes forget the depth of my love for them. Their new album, Tender Age, is terrific, subtly lovely and sneakily astonishing. Good company, too. A good night.
And the shooting, as always, will get better — it always takes me a minute or seventeen to adjust to a new set of terrible lights, a new background to compensate for. Lord almighty, I need a 50mm that will auto-focus.
