I’m not attending this weekend’s on-going and much-hyped Hopscotch Festival in Raleigh for a variety of reasons — most notably timing; next weekend is Bristol Rhythm & Roots and I’m too old to do back to back festivals like that — but I can assure you that I will be attending Trekky Records’ Hopscotch day party, the well-named Day-Dream, tomorrow afternoon at the Pour House in Raleigh.
I think I’ve made it pretty clear that I’m a huge fan, both as a listener and as a photographer, of what Trekky does, with their bands, their festivals, their gorgeous silk-screened posters, and this is no exception: a well-curated day party full of local favorites and visiting out-of-towners who have a history with Trekky bands. There’s a ton of amazing free Hopscotch day party events going on tomorrow, but if you only pick one, I say pick this one. You can see Lost in the Trees, Embarrassing Fruits, Sharon van Etten, Midtown Dickens & Butterflies for free, at a great bar with a phenomenal stock of beers on tap. You know you want to. Do it!
(The Pour House is on Blount Street across from Moore Square and almost next door to Tir Na Nog. The show starts at 2 and goes ’til 5:30. Hopefully Miami/TOSU will be on upstairs. I keep realizing this post was low on details.)
