on and on

on and on, originally uploaded by minervacat.

Went home to Baltimore for a nice low-key vacation, and the Stump received a diagnosis of “rolling death trap, must be replaced immediately”. That’s the odometer reading from when I pulled into the CarMax lot: 40,000 of those miles came with the Stump when my dad bought him in 1997, my dad put 70,000 on him in eight years, and shep. and I accounted for the other 66,000 in the last four years. We drive a lot. I suppose it’s good to no longer be driving a car that could have exploded at any minute, but I was ridiculously attached to the Stump and I miss him and his oil guzzling, no a/c ways.

So now I am the proud owner of a bright red too-new Toyota Corolla and a fucking huge car loan. The car is pretty awesome; the car loan and all the fighting I did with my dad, not so.
