I couldn’t stand to be on the floor with the pushy, sweaty crowd during most of the National’s set last night, so I shot the first song, determined that I’d gotten a few good shots of Matt Berninger, and retreated back to a safe peaceful spot in front of the sound board with shep. I’d like to shoot them for a full show sometime — Berninger is simply too entrancing a performer to not want to — but last night wasn’t it. I lacked the patience, and I really just wanted to enjoy the show.

What a fucking kickass set, though. The new stuff sounds great, the old stuff sounds great; probably the best show I’ve seen so far this year.
