Last Friday I drove out to Graham, with the Cowboy in tow, to take photos at Fret Sounds, a custom guitar building and repair shop run by local musician Brian Haran. Brian, in addition to playing in the excellent Filthybird with his wife Renee, specializes in restoring vintage instruments and building custom pieces from scratch; his work is gorgeous, and it was absolutely fascinating to shoot. The Cowboy, being a musician himself, asked a lot of intelligent questions; I spent a lot of time saying, “This is really pretty! … what does it do?”

I’m hoping to spend more time with Brian this year, shooting his in-progress builds and his finished products. Behind the jump, a handful of shots from Friday morning. If you’re in the Triangle or the Triad area and looking for high quality custom builds or repairs on vintage instruments, Brian’s your man. Check out his site and give him a call.
