dim sum

I sort of miss taking pictures of my food, in a masochistic self-flagellating habit-forming way, so I made my mama and my aunt suffer while I took pictures of our dim sum lunch on Saturday. I left the camera at home Sunday night when we were eating tapas or you guys would be looking at a picture of the most delicious beets I have ever consumed.

No, seriously: I suspect even beet-haters would have enjoyed these beets. The English language lacks words for how delicious they were. Beets! With slices of kiwi and an amazing vinagrette! Amazing.

I listened to new episodes of all three of my food podcast subscriptions today. I’m hungry. (Although one of them devolved into … sort of bizarre New Age-y-ness, which was unexpected. Does anyone else listen to The Splendid Table? Was last weekend’s episode sort of strange, around there in the middle?)

If you like to hear people talk about food like I do, I highly recommend: American Public Media’s The Splendid Table; KCRW’s Good Food; and the new podcast from Orangette’s Molly, Spilled Milk. The former two are informative; the latter is amazing and hilarious, and I say that from only a single episode.

Unrelatedly: Suburban Home is re-releasing Micah Schnabel’s solo album in March, which is awesome.
