Beach House — Teen Dream. Out 1/26, Sub Pop.
Beach House makes this variety of stripped-down-but-not indie electro-dream-pop that I forget how much I love for long stretches of time.
Wow, what a great opening, huh?
Anyway: this is a great album. Drifty, vaguely haunting, vaguely sad songs that all run together in a good way, an album I can’t listen to on shuffle or in bits and pieces. Where the self-titled is a great November album and Devotion is a perfect April album, Teen Dream is a perfect February album, almost spring but not quite. It’s a little jangly and a little melancholy and a lot soaring, and it’s lovely.

You can stream the album in its entirety at NPR until next Tuesday.
Beach House is playing the Cradle in Carrboro in May and I’m looking forward to seeing and shooting them then.
