From last December, not the CD release party. One of the best shots I’ve ever snapped with my 70-210mm lens in any concert venue, ever, and especially in the dark, weird Pour House. That lens really only does well outside in sunshine — it’s my primary baseball lens — and at the Lincoln with its pro lighting rig. But this shot, this shot was lucky.
I am such a sucker for pedal steel played well. And photos of people’s hands. I’m really excited, actually, to hopefully get to see one of Matt Stoessel’s seventeen thousand projects — the Ginger Envelope — that I haven’t seen live yet (the only one of Stoessel’s projects I have seen being South San Gabriel, and lord knows that dude plays in a million bands that aren’t even Will Johnson-fronted) when they come through the CH in July; Stoessel’s one of the best steel players I’ve ever seen live and I love the Ginger Envelope’s first album like it was a religious experience.
