Erika Wennerstrom is a badass.

The wall of guitar and bass that Heartless Bastards produce is enough to rattle your fillings in the best possible way.

Haw River Ballroom is one of my favorite places to shoot in the Triangle, if not my favorite, because the lights are so perfect and dramatic.

Futurebirds are more bearded and more Neil Young jammy than the last time I saw them, but still amazing. Hampton’s Lullaby was such an underrated record.

I described Wussy as “Sleater-Kinney if S-K had been full of dudes and Corin Tucker had been less angry” to Twitter, but that’s not quite right; they have an S-K guitar tone, and a Southern rock sensibility to their songwriting. Dug ’em.
