And then after the Lost in the Trees set on Thursday, and a pit stop at Linda’s for more beer, t., Jenni, Chiv, and I moseyed up to the 506 to see our friends Seamus and Alex front an Elvis Costello cover band, backed by the inimitable Robert Sledge and two of Alex’s bandmates from Tripp, in honor of the man’s birthday. They absolutely killed it, along with reminding me how great Elvis Costello himself is.

I haven’t pulled a double header in a long time — last summer, Megafaun at the Saxapahaw farmer’s market followed by the Hear Here release show — and never on a work night with that much beer, but it was worth it. It was the kind of night that makes me not grateful but thankful, I guess, to live where I do. I’m surrounded by immensely talented people who are doing their own thing, and that’s wonderful.
