Saturday evening, I took some shots of delicious cupcakes for my friends Heather & Kala, and their bakery the Night Kitchen. (I took headshots for them last month, as well.) After a year of shooting all my food, I enjoy taking photos of food so much more when it’s not everything I eat, all the time. And when it’s as gorgeously presented as all their cupcakes were.
Relatedly, some music & food related items I’m enjoying lately:
- The Epicurean Musician: interviews with musicians about food.
- Taste On Tour: the food blog of Joe Kwon, the cellist for the Avett Brothers. Recipes and restaurant reviews, both here in Joe’s hometown of Chapel Hill and on the road with the Avetts.
- The existence of Toronto sandwich shop Sky Blue Sky, featuring Wilco-named sandwiches, has brought a whole flush of attention to Greensboro pizzeria Sticks and Stones Clay Oven Pizza, whose menu items are named after Ryan Adams songs, and both of these places delight me.
- And not music related except that I see a lot of shows in Raleigh, I’m digging Spoon Fed Raleigh — great photography and helpful reviews, even if most of their reviewed restaurants are waaay out of my price range.
Any other good music-related food blogs (or food-related music blogs) out there?
I mean, after all, even Shakespeare put the two together, right?
if music be the food of love, play on.
