Interesting post on Ask Metafilter last week on what makes a drummer good.
Relevant because last night we saw the Old Ceremony, and their drummer, Dan Hall, is probably one of the most underrated drummers working in the Triangle right now; the mark of a good drummer is “can keep up with Django Haskins (and keep him on track)”, and that’s what Dan does. We had a clear view of Dan last night and he’s always a pleasure to watch.
The whole band is, though, of course — such amazing musicians, Django is such a fantastic guitarist, and there’s only a few bands out there where you can demand MORE VIBRAPHONE and actually get it (and the Old Ceremony are one of them).
It was a great show.
